Healthcare is changing. A nationwide shortage of physicians has opened the doors to a golden opportunity for hospitals and health networks. Tempted by the allure of regular hours, no overhead costs, and competitive bonuses, many primary care doctors are abandoning their solo practices, selling their offices and joining large hospital networks.
What does this mean for you?
It means that instead of seeing your doctor; the doctor who has helped you through so much, knows your kids by name, and who you trust to guide you on your path to good health, you will see one of any number of doctors, nurse practitioners or physician assistants.
A solo practice physician, Dr. King understands that the relationship between patient and physician is a sacred thing that is not achieved with cookie cutter medicine, corporate quotas or rotating providers. She strives for relationships with her patients that allow her to truly know them, know their concerns, and collaborate with them to improve or maintain their health.
What is a membership based medical practice?
Membership based medicine has many names. It is often referred to as concierge medicine, cash pay or direct primary care. Membership based medicine means that a patient pays a membership fee to join a practice for the year, and receives as part of that fee access to member benefits including multiple office visits throughout the year, 24 hour access to the physician, as well as other health and wellness features.
What are the benefits of membership based medicine?
1. More time with your doctor
Unfortunately, as physicians sell their practices to hospital networks they become beholden to corporate board rooms and not their patients. Productivity becomes more important than personalization, efficiency replaces empathy, and cost reduction supersedes care for the individual and his/her needs. Have you ever spent more time sitting in a full waiting room than you actually do with the doctor? Short visits limited to one complaint are the new standard.
King Integrative Primary Care membership based medicine offers you more one on one time directly with Dr. King. You will never be put in the care of a nurse or physician assistant. Yearly membership includes a full wellness physical and 2 additional 30 minute appointments with direct time with Dr. King. This allows for longer, unhurried appointments to address any issues.
2. Easy access to your doctor
In typical healthcare practices there is no way a doctor will be able to return your phone call directly, they are way too busy for that. Usually you will speak with a medical assistant or nurse, then the message will be relayed to your physician hopefully in a timely and accurate manner. Eventually you will receive a call from the medical assistant that may or may not address your original concern.
Membership based medicine changes the rules. King Integrative Primary Care allows direct contact with Dr King 24/7 via cell phone, text messaging or email so you can get in touch with her whenever and wherever the need arises. We also offer the convenience of same day or next day appointments so you can get to meet with Dr. King right away.
Who is Jennifer A. King, M.D.?
Dr. King received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California at San Diego. She went on to pursue her Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from San Diego State University/California State University. She attended medical school at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science where she received her Doctor of Medicine degree. She joined Scottsdale Healthcare, now HonorHealth, as a Resident in Family Medicine.
Dr. King started King Integrative Primary Care as a way to get back to the roots of medicine and be able to provide a personalized experience that is individualized and focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle.
How can I enroll or get additional information?
Membership based medical practices generally limit the number of patients they accept. This way they can control the quality of the care they provide. As a part of this membership practice, insurance will not be accepted, but you may submit your own claims to your insurance plan if reimbursement for the services is permitted by your plan.
Membership is limited and Back in Action patients will be given first priority to join Dr. King’s membership practice. Call 480-513-4801 and select the option for Dr. King to schedule your complimentary consult. Dr. King is also trained in acupuncture and will work in collaboration with the BIA team to get you back on track to a healthier, pain free life.
