Would You Benefit from the McKenzie Method®?
Do you suffer from back pain, neck pain, or an orthopedic injury? Have you tried various treatment options only to find none of them were effective in relieving the pain?
If so, you might benefit from visiting a clinic like Back in Action, whose providers practice the McKenzie Method®.
The McKenzie Method® is an assessment process used to diagnose musculoskeletal conditions and identify the causes of pain in the back, neck and extremities without using diagnostic imaging (e.g. x-rays, MRIs, CT scans, etc.) Instead, clinicians use an evidence and exercise based approach during the diagnostic process.
The McKenzie Method® was developed by physiotherapist Robin McKenzie in the 1950s. McKenzie’s goal was to create a treatment method that promotes the body’s potential to repair itself through a series of repeated movements as opposed to using medication, heat/cold therapies, ultrasounds, needles, and/or surgery. The focus of the McKenzie Method® is patient education and teaching them self-treatment to reduce dependency and promote independence.
Ready to live a pain-free life? Schedule your appointment with Back in Action today, and get back to doing the things you love!
How Does the McKenzie Method® Work?
The McKenzie Method® is a four-stage process. The four stages are: assessment, classification, treatment, and prevention. For more information about the four-stage process, visit McKenzie Institute USA.
Curious about whether or not the McKenzie Method® is right for you?
Not all healthcare professionals are certified in the McKenzie Method®. The McKenzie Method® is a post-graduate training program that healthcare providers elect to take. Although it’s not required, continuing education is vital in the healthcare industry because it is constantly changing and evolving. Professionals that value continuing education often provide better care, have greater experience, and are always up to date with the latest advances in healthcare.
